| Nationwide In-depth Interviewing |
IDCC conducts qualitative in-depth interviews of up to 120 minutes in length using highly skilled executive interviewers. These one-on-one interviews are conducted by phone or in-person anywhere in the U.S.
The in-depth interviews are conducted by IDCC's key staff members and other highly skilled IDCC interviewers specifically trained in detailed, comprehensive techniques for interviewing targeted respondents. IDCC interviewers use open-ended surveys or structured one-on-one discussion formats developed either by the client, IDCC, or collaboratively. IDCC interviewers are trained to create rapport between themselves and the respondents to elicit enhanced answers and insightful discussion that provides superior depth and context with respect to the issues being researched.

Information can be received and documented from the respondent in three ways:
- The interviewer writes down the respondent's answers to the open-ended survey in real-time
- Audiotaping of in-depth interviews (most utilized)
- Videotaping of in-depth interviews
A written verbatim transcription of the interviews from the audiotape or videotape are typically created for utilization in report writing or for documentation and future publication purposes.

Transcription and Translation Services |
IDCC offers two types of transcriptions from both focus groups and in-depth interviews;
1) paraphrased transcriptions with verbatims and 2) full word-for-word verbatim transcriptions. Both types of transcriptions are replete with direct quotations from respondents. IDCC also offers transcription translations from many languages. (i.e., Spanish, Chinese, Haitian Creole)
to English or visa versa. The transcriptions are created as MS Word documents and delivered via email as well as via mailed hard copy. This service is coordinated and supervised by IDCC Vice President Ken Lyons.

Type 1
Paraphrased Transcription with Verbatims: |
|
Excellent for incorporating into a full qualitative research report.
Short turnaround time - 2-3 days per transcription. Less expensive.
The draft transcription is reviewed and spell-checked by IDCC staff for readability and accuracy. It includes both interviewer's or moderator's questions and all spoken answers provided by respondents during interviews or focus group sessions.
|
Type 2
Full Verbatim Transcription: |
|
Excellent for word-for-word documentation and for exacting publication standards. Timeframe is 5-7 days per transcription. More expensive.
This transcription is a completely edited verbatim transcript which is re-read and double-checked by a second transcriber for completeness and then proofread by a third IDCC editor to deliver documentation as picture-perfect as allowed by tape audio quality.**
|
** Pricing is dependent on the quality of tapes when provided to IDCC. If a tape is of poor or substandard quality, or if voices are hard to hear even at high volume because of microphone/recorder placement in interviews or focus groups not conducted by IDCC, the additional time needed to re-listen to retrieve complete contents of a tape will be reflected in a revised cost for that transcription. |
